Get footer from url?

Could I fetch the HTML for the footer from a url? I 'm using a CMS to serve html chunks and I already have a footer, which I 'd hate to have to maintain separately. I 'm guessing I 'll have to modify the python code someplace, but a hint where that place is would be very helpful
